“Pretty Little Liars” is back with more lying, spying and style

Here’s what we know: things are off to a great start for season three of Pretty Little Liars on the ABC Family channel. Everybody has a story and in the sleepy (and often creepy) little town of Rosewood. And everybody’s story is a tangled mystery.

Yes, it was a shock to learn that the secret identity of “A” was revealed to be Mona (Janel Parrish) in the season two finale, so naturally we’ll be seeing more of her. “Mona is ‘A’ and she’s drooling in her bed at a nut hospital,” Hanna said in the opening episode.

Don’t worry, it doesn’t matter where she’s at, Mona can still cause a lot of trouble for Aria (Lucy Hale), Hanna (Ashley Benson), Emily (Shay Mitchell), Spencer (Troian Bellisario), and anyone else who seems interested burying secrets–as well as bodies. Yes, there’s another body this season. Is anybody surprised?

Janel says she loves the idea of playing a tormenter, “and coming back as a regular cast member and getting more screen time.” So who was Mona talking to when she said, “I did everything you asked” at the end of last season’s finale? Her lips are sealed for now.

But executive producer Marlene King was talking recently about assuring Pretty Little Liars fans that “A” was just one individual, not several people working together as “A.” But she could be lying.

What else is coming? Marlene implied that Spencer and Toby won’t be able to catch a break and will be on a romantic roller coaster ride with lots of problems to deal with.

Don’t fret for them. Spencer can take comfort in the stylish wardrobe that has become a hallmark of the show. Troian Bellisario says, “I love what Spencer wears. I think it’s a really wonderful thing to be able to come to the set and have a character presented to you, in terms of fashion or the types of earring she wears. It’s just something that helps me out to get into the character before I walk on the set.”

Ashley says, “For me, Hanna’s style is different than mine. I love black, and Hanna is very much the girly girl. She’s always in skirts and dresses and lots of jewelry and sparkles. And I don’t really like that stuff. I wear dresses, but there’s studs on them. I kind of like more edgy stuff. My style is more like Aria.”

Lucy Hale says, “When it comes to fashion, my character Aria is in a world of her own. She’s definitely the quirkiest of the girls. And, you know, she mixes vintage pieces with modern pieces. And she’s willing to take risks and do her own thing.”

Lucy says playing Aria has helped her to “embrace my quirkier and edgier side. It’s fun to see myself get dressed in the morning and look in the mirror and say, ‘Oh, my God, I look like Aria.”

Shay Mitchell says she fully embraces Emily’s character when she in wardrobe, “but she’s very different than me. I don’t own that many sneakers.”

What about Janel Parrish’s style? At the recent GBK Celebrity Gift Lounge, Janel was beaming about the Lotus Premium Denim jeans that were sure to make the hot actress look even hotter, as a regular now on Pretty Little Liars.
