Night of 100 Stars & Stuart House Benefit

For the 21st year (since we were in diapers) we have attended Norby Walter’s annual “Night of 100 Stars” at the Beverly Hills Hotel, to view the Oscars, and mix and mingle with the eclectic group of celebs.  This year, the black tie crowd included Ed Asner, Dick Van Patten, Sean Young, Doris Roberts and Dennis Haysbert — to name a few.  Even 94-year-old Ernie Borgnine was on hand to accept a plaque for his 60 years in films.

It is always a unique experience to share movie memories with celebs of this magnitude.  Over 60 Academy Award winners and Nominees have attended this Oscar Viewing Dinner Soiree, including Shirley Jones, who came with two gentlemen — her hubby, the irrepressible Marty Ingels, and her own golden gent — the Oscar she won in 1960 as Best Supporting Actress for Elmer Gantry.

Women’s Rights Attorney, Gloria Allred, always makes a statement at this event.  One year, she turned up with Amber Frey, former lover of convicted murder, Scott Peterson; and this year she sported a sign that stated: “Charlie Sheen is a disgrace”.

The party was sponsored by Richard Mille, who opened their first US boutique in Beverly Hills.  This luxury watch brand dealer has the most expensive watches in the world, and he invited a bevy of beauties sporting them for the numerous camera crews in attendance. Kudos to Norby for another glamorous and glitzy gathering; and to his PR Pro Edward Lozzi, for putting together another scintillating soiree.

Designer John Varvatos opened the doors of his West Hollywood Boutique for an afternoon of live music, shopping, auctions and food, to support Stuart House, the Rape Treatment Center, serving special needs of child victims of sexual abuse.  In its 8th year, the event has raised over 1.5 million dollars.

Entertainment was provided by Grammy Award winning singer K.D. Lang, and some of the many celebs in attendance included Patrick Dempsey (Dr. Dreamy from Grey’s Anatomy) Jennifer Garner & Ben Affleck, Rachel Ray, David Schwimmer and gorgeous Gina Gershon. Twenty five percent of all sales that day went to support Stuart House.  A most rewarding afternoon indeed.
