Pretty in Pink, September Sarno Soiree, Angels Night for Center Theatre Group

Pretty in Pink

For the 5th consecutive year, Cedars-Sinai Women’s Cancer Research Institute held their Annual Pink Party, hosted by stylish Elyse Walker, owner of a chic boutique in Pacific Palisades.

This year, La Cachette Bistro in Santa Monica was the venue, complete with a pink carpet for celebs, DJ and dancers.  Pink flowers and cocktails completed the scene.  Marcia Cross (Desperate Housewives) received the Pink Party Commitment Award, because she attended every Pink Party for the last five years.  Wonder if that is because redheads look so pretty in pink?

Other celebs donning their favorite pink outfits included Giada De Laurentiis, Italian host of the Food Network,  (who enjoyed tasting the chicken tenders, and sipping pink champagne; Garcelle Beauvais Nilon, (NYPD) and actress Poppy Montgomery,  (Without a Trace) who bid on a Chloe handbag in the silent auction.

Dr. Beth Karlan, Director of the Cancer Institute), announced that over $4million dollars has been raised at the past four Pink Parties.  Now that’s what I call Pink Power!

September Sarno Soiree

To celebrate her September Birthday, sexy stockbroker September Sarno had to “dig deep” to come up with something original for her special guests…after all, most of them have seen and done it all!  The innovative hostess invited her guest to board a Zip Line strung across the pool at her Beverly Hills home, which was covered in fire.  Among the participants who flew in the sky, 120 feet over the gaily-decorated tables, was Suzanne Hughes, founder of the Herbalife Family Foundation.

To add to the exotic entertainment were three nude ladies in body paint – one of whom was the body double for Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. Guests jetted in from Mexico and  Las Vegas (September’s dad, Jay Sarno was the original owner of Caesars Palace), to enjoy the sumptuous buffet by T.J. Ramini of Aroma events.

The entire evening was coordinated by Maria Cook, President of Premiere Productions, and among the attendees were Elizabeth Ann (Crustaceans Restaurant) and hubby Gordon Clune,  Ciedra Urich-Sass, Boyd Willat and Norby & Irene Walters, who are getting ready for their own smashing soiree –The Night of 100 Stars on Oscar Night at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Angels Night for Center Theater Group

Handsome actor John O’Hurley, best known as J. Peterman on Seinfeld, was host of the Angels Night Benefit for the Center Theatre Group.  More than 600 theatre, art and philanthropic supporters were in attendance at the black tie event at the Century Plaza Hotel.  Since it was on the night before Halloween, many of the guests wore colorful costumes to get into the spirit.

Ava Fries and her producer husband, Chuck (over 200 movies for TV) chaired the event which featured a silent auction of 94 original works of art by many of L.A.’s internationally known artists, including Woods Davy, DeWain Valentine and Ruth Snyder.  Advance ticket sales of $400,000 were expected to be doubled.

The delighted audience was treated to a special performance of DARWIN, a play by Corbian Visual Arts and Dance, and Stephen Rountree (CEO of the Music Center) was honored for his outstanding contributions to the L.A. arts community.

A most artistic event on the Hollywood Beat.
