BROADWAY ON ICE COMES

Broadway on Ice Comes to Thousand Oaks

In the same spirit as the arrival of the Circus or Cirque D'Soleil or the Rose Parade, you may now include Broadway on Ice as a "must-see".  This lovely, spectacular show is designed for children and adults alike and offers us such luminaries as champion ice skater, Dorothy Hamill, famed Phantom singer, Franc D'Ambrosio and clever, clean comic, Dale Gonyea. And the entire ensemble Ms. Hamill has joined together are agile, smooth, exciting skating stars who thrill you with teach leap, catch or slide. During our matinee performance on Sunday, December 23, not one skater tripped, fell or stepped out of line. In short, the show was flawless, as well as "floorless".

Aside from the fine skating is the array of beautiful music chosen by the skaters, D'Ambrosio and Gonyea. A rendition of Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" played by Gonyea, "This is the Moment" , sung by D'Ambrosio and "Somewhere", skated by Ms. Hamill were all quite thrilling. In addition, the skaters danced to a "Salute to Fosse" and a "Broadway Medley" including songs from 42nd Street and the music of Stephen Sondheim and Leonard Bernstein, among others. Mr. Gonyea's poetic tribute to Hollywood stars' names was truly priceless. And the skating of Annie Laurie and Jeff Labrake to "All I Ask of You" was about the smoothest, most sensitive duo I've seen in many moons. This entire show was conceived and produced by Willy Bietak and you can count on him for two-plus hours of visual and auditory orgasms. And a round of applause to the staff of the Fred Kavli Theatre in Thousand Oaks for their eager assistance and help with the disabled, including yours truly. They make themselves available and courteous beyond normal expectation and it's so very much appreciated.

Please put Broadway on Ice on your Must-See agenda when they come back to town in 2008. I promise you one great experience.
