A Tale of Two Talented Authors

If you want to spot celebs in tinseltown, forget Spago, Wolfgang’s, or Mr. Chow — because the price of the meal may make it not worth your while.  The most reasonable, friendly, and I might add educational venue is Barnes & Noble Bookstore at the Grove.  In the last several months, such celeb authors as Michael Bolton, Valerie Harper, several of the B.H. Housewives, including Brandi Granville, and Grace Robbins, the widow of Harold Robbins, were among the authors inviting you to their book signing soirees.

The other evening, Oscar winning actress Shirley Jones and her irrepressible hubby, Marty Ingels co-hosted a celebrity book signing party at Barnes & Nobles flagship store. Among the many celebs in attendance were handsome Frank Stallone (Sly’s younger bro), Renee Taylor (The Nanny) and husband, Joe Bologna, Charlene Tilton (Dallas) and Diane Ladd — who with her daughter, Laura Dern were both Oscar nominees for Rambling Rose in 1991.

Shirley was there discussing her controversial new book:  Shirley Jones:  A Memoir, which was just released by publishing powerhouse Simon & Schuster. Stunning Shirley was there to answer questions — even the embarrassing ones.  In this memoir, you are going to meet the real flesh and blood Shirley Jones not just the movie star or television icon.

There is even a tale of an orgy involving Shirley’s late husband, Jack Cassidy — a noted womanizer, and a famed Hollywood beauty.  Can this be true Mrs. Partridge?

Also in attendance were CenturyCity’s own Brenda Dickson, whose tome, My True Hidden Hollywood Story is a runaway hit.  Brenda, known as the ultimate villain Jill Abbot on the Young & the Restless, has been selling E books for the past several weeks; and her hard cover edition has just become available.  This memoir will knock your socks off, starting with her love affairs with the most powerful men in Hollywood, and the back stage drama of the soaps.  It includes two very current topics: sexual harassment and blacklisting, and is the survival story of a talented and gorgeous actress in an industry that can be very cruel.

We are hoping to see Brenda at her own book signing at Barnes & Noble in the near future & will keep you advised of her progress.
