Liza and Judy--Together

Liza and Judy

LIZA AND JUDY—TOGETHER AGAIN, March 18, 19, 20, at The El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood

Liza and Judy—Together Again brings to life the celebrated mother and daughter superstar entertainers in concert with Suzanne Goulet starring as Liza Minnelli, and Denise Rose starring as Judy Garland on the El Portal’s Main Stage, March 18-20.

In real life Judy and her daughter Liza only performed a few times together, and that was very early in Liza’s career. But with the extraordinary talents of Suzanne Goulet and Denise Rose in this fantasy musical tribute show they are reunited as equals in the spotlight. To see both Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli at their peak recapturing the magic that made them legendary performers is a tremendous gift for their fans.

Of course that gift is thanks to Suzanne and Denise who have the looks and the voices, along with the dancing talent to recreate the magical musical numbers that made both of them famous. And there will be dazzling costumes (13 changes).

The high-energy show features lots of duets, as well as mother and daughter moments that will melt your heart—such as “Be A Clown” in their tramp costumes. Their dialogue is filled with humor and interesting show business memories. And the “Cabaret Dancers” will join the stars for classic production numbers that will include “Get Happy,” “Swanee,” “Bye Bye Blackbird,” “City Lights,” “Liza with a Z,” and more.

Their most famous songs, “New York, New York” and “Over The Rainbow,” are among the highlights for Liza & Judy – Together Again. Visit www.ElPortalTheatre.com. #

DORIS AND ME, A SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY, March 18, 19, 20, at The El Portal’s Monroe Forum Theatre

Scott Dreier stars in Doris and Me

Scott Dreier stars in Doris and Me

Doris and Me, A Sentimental Journey stars Scott Dreier, who is the ultimate Doris Day fan. Dreier has turned his quirky yet lovable fascination with singer and movie icon Doris Day into a joyful tribute show that will be presented in the El Portal’s intimate Monroe Forum Theatre, March 18-20.

It is more than your typical tribute show to a wonderful artist, because Dreier takes the audience with him on a sentimental journey as he shares the classic treasured songs, personal anecdotes, history, humor, heart and many Doris Day stories. If you’re a Doris Day fan, it has everything to delight you. If you’re not, you’ll be one by the end of the show. The nostalgic songs featured include “Sentimental Journey,” “It’s Magic,” “Secret Love,” “Que Sera, Sera,” “Everybody Loves a Lover,” and many more.

Dreier has been touring with the show for almost three years, and it’s a return engagement for the El Portal. Dreier has timed this outing for just two weeks before Doris Day’s 92nd birthday (April 3) and a weekend celebration in Carmel, California, where he will be performing Doris and Me for Day’s fans from all over the world.

For Doris Day fans Doris and Me is a must, and everyone will be a fan after seeing this show presented by 3000 Miles Off-Broadway Productions. Visit www.ElPortalTheatre.com. #

ONE NIGHT OF QUEEN, March 11, 12, 13, at The El Portal Theatre

There’s still time to see One Night of Queen starring Gary Mullen and The Works, a show direct from the United Kingdom and playing the El Portal’s Main Stage for three performances only: March 11, 12, and 13.

The show is an authentic recreation of Queen at the height of their popularity, and it features the incredible Gary Mullen as Freddy Mercury. There are many Queen tribute bands because of their uniquely symphonic sound and fantastic songs, but no tribute bands can match the intensity, vocal range, and extroverted performance of the outrageously sexual Gary Mullen embodying the mythical Mercury.

The El Portal will be the show’s only Los Angeles appearance during the current United States tour. For tickets to One Night of Queen call (818) 508-4200 or visit www.ElPortalTheatre.com. The historic El Portal Theatre is located at 5269 Lankershim Blvd. in North Hollywood’s NoHo Arts District. #
