2010 Angel Awards & Hispanics for the Opera

Lots of beautiful Angels were in attendance at the Project Angel Food “Angel Awards” Gala in Hollywood, recognizing corporations and people behind them who have supported the Agency.  Among these was gorgeous actress Amy Adams, looking svelte after the birth of her newborn daughter, Aviana.  The Academy Award nominee for her standout performance in Doubt, presented a special award to Paramount Pictures for their volunteering in the kitchen, which serves 13,000 meals a week (free of charge) to those affected by HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life threatening illnesses throughout Los Angeles County.

Another beauty, Pauley Perrette, who portrays the tattooed Amy in NCIS, is a Board Member of the organization, and hosted the event, which featured a musical performance by Euriamis Losada “EL” and Brian Kinler, and comedian Kim Coles.  Sean Murray, who portrays the adorable computer geek in NCIS, and Leslie Bibb, who is currently working with Will Forte (SNL) on A Grand Old Fashioned Orgy (yes, that is the title of their new flick) were also in attendance at this star-studded event. Keep Saturday, October 9th open for the Placido Domingo Awards to benefit the LA Opera, and Hispanics for the Opera.  This gala will follow the matinee performance of Mexican composer Daniel Catan’s exciting new Opera, Il Postino.  This opera is based on the popular Oscar winning Italian film that has charmed audiences worldwide, and stars Domingo, as the exiled Chilean poet Pablo Neruda.

Mezzo Soprano Nancy Fabiola Herrera will be honored, fresh from her performance as Donna Rosa in Il Postino, and there will be an assortment of prestigious guests at this event, including the General Consuls of Mexico and Italy.

For further information, please call Rachel Torres, L.A. Opera Special Events at 213-972-7338 or check out their website www.hispanicsforlaopera.org.  Hope to see you there!

And to make this Spanish weekend even more of a fiesta – you are invited to attend the Buenos Aires Tango Argentina, to benefit the Claude & Alfred E. Mann Foundation on October 10th at The Santa Monica Airport.  This black tie evening of elegance and romance will feature Emmy Award winning Choreographer Debbie Allen as Mistress of Ceremonies, and we are certain there will be lots of A-listers in attendance.
