Sexy Stockbroker September Sarno invited us to the 2nd Annual Ladies Night Out at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel. We were encouraged to “mix and mingle” with 21 VIBs (Very Important Bachelors) to raise money for SHARE – which supports at risk or abused children.
September and her Tanned & Terrific Team (Sami Faulkner, Gia Bay and Kathleen Hopp), raised even more than last year, to support treatment, research and prevention for kids facing the broad spectrum of developmental disabilities.
Neile Adams (widow of Steve McQueen) was among the SHARE Ladies who purchased tables – others included President Debra Couch, Chairman, Mandie Rush, Joanna Carson and Merri Jean Ross. Esther Rosenfeld sponsored her Godson, Ryan Garvey (baseball scion of Steve) as one of the handsome bachelors. He topped the list of philanthropists, selling his “dating services” three times for $2,000 each! All of the bachelors who strolled the catwalk donated $2,000 minimum for the privilege.
Other handsome and accomplished gentlemen who donated their “services” included Dr. Marc Mani (renowned B.H. plastic surgeon), multifaceted entrepreneur Boyd Willat, Luxury estate home builder, Rob Glass, and actor and recording artist Jack Wagner (Melrose Place, Bold & The Beautiful, etc.). There was even a set of identical twins (Garry and Jason Clemmons) that modeled for top designers including Versace and Donna Karen. Two for the price of one – what a bargain!
At another star-studded event at the Beverly Hilton, actress Viola Davis (The Help) was honored with Woman of the Year at the Friendly House fundraiser…the oldest women’s recovery program in the country. Since 1951 they have successfully treated over 6600 women. Actor/comedian Russell Brand served as MC for the gala, which ran from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm.
Friendly House Executive Director Peggy Albrecht welcomed more than 800 philanthropic supporters including Richard Chamberlain, Lou Gosset, Jr., Dr. Drew Pinsky, Christopher Kennedy Lawford, and famed director Paris Barclay. CBS/Viacom Chairman Sumner Redstone received the Humanitarian Award from his daughter Shari; and relationship expert Dr. Pat Allen, received her Excellence in Service Award from Fox 11’s Christine Devine. Approximately $250,000 was raised that afternoon — setting a record for the nonprofit as the most successful gala awards ever!
