Events Around Los Angeles in November and December 2012

Lots of events are scheduled around Los Angeles from now through the holidays.

On Nov. 19, To get into the generous spirit of the upcoming holidays, Jimmy Kimmel will bring laughs to The Saban Free Clinic’s 36th Annual Dinner Gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. Modern Family‘s Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen will co-host the event honoring Paul Lee, president of ABC Entertainment Group, and Bob Broder for their leadership and contributions to the Clinic. Aimee Mann will perform, and Revenge star Emily VanCamp will present a Clinic video featuring Cheryl Saban. Go to www.thesabanfreeclinic.org.

On Nov. 24, acclaimed singer Barbara Morrison will perform at the Catalina Bar & Grill in Hollywood. Morrison will present her cabaret show “A Tribute to Dinah Washington, Queen of the Blues.” The Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center All Star Big Band, conducted by John Stephens, will be featured. Nov. 25 in the heart of “Tinsel Town,” the 2012 Hollywood Christmas Parade Benefitting Marine Toys for Tots will launch with a pre-parade show spectacular ar 5:30 p.m., with the annual holiday parade commencing at 6:30 p.m.  Emmy and Tony winning actor Joe Mantegna (Criminal Minds star and national spokesperson for the U.S. Army Museum) will serve as Grand Marshal of the parade presented by the City of Los Angeles and Associated Television International in Hollywood. A bunch of celebrities will be featured in the Hollywood Christmas Parade that will be nationally televised on the Hallmark Channel on Dec. 10, and Dec. 21. It will also be broadcast to military bases on the Armerican Forces Network.

Brooke Burk-Charvet & Angeles Lladro

The Lladro Beverly Hills Boutique, which features the fine porcelain figurines and works of art, was very busy last month and will continue through the holidays. One recent special event was a cocktail reception that unveiled the new limited edition creation called “Elegant Foxtrot.” Dancing With the Stars co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet was there to announce that a portion of proceeds will benefit Operation Smile, a children’s charity for which Brooke is the celebrity Ambassador. Angeles Lladro, vice president of Lladro based in Valencia, Spain, was on hand to host and everyone enjoyed a ballroom dance performance choreographed by Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Beverly Hills.

From Dec. 12 to Dec. 30, the modern musical “A Snow White Christmas” is at The Pasadena Playhouse. The Lythgoe Family Productions is a wonderful introduction to the uproarious British Panto theatre tradition, that presents a classic fairytale laced with modern songs and outrageous comedy. Among the fantastic cast is charlene Tilton as “The Wicked Queen,” and Neil Patrick Harris as “The Magic Mirror.” Ariana Grande, from Nickelodeon’s Victorious plays Snow White, and Broadway’s Curt Hansen is “Prince Harry.” It’s fun for the whole family. From Dec. 15 to Dec. 31, “Christmas My Way, A Sinatra Holiday Bash!” is presented at the historic El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood. The musical show stars Luca Ellis, Jason Graae, Heather Lee and Beth Malone for the swinging celebration featuring great Frank Sinatra holiday hits, along with a groovy Rat Pack-ish versions of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” and “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” Order tickets online at www.elportaltheatre.com.
