Sue Wong fashions puts glamour back in Hollywood

Bedazzling Hollywood glamour grabbed the spotlight when fashion designer Sue Wong recently presented her Spring 2011 collection. The ultra-artistic and creative Wong didn’t do a traditional runway show. Instead she hosted a themed “Glamour Goddess” party that showcased her most exquisite dresses on movie actresses, TV stars, and stunning models who mixed and mingled at Sue Wong’s Wilshire Center Atelier.

“My designs are about beauty, magic, and transformation,” Wong said when she greeted her well-dressed guests.

Wong explained, “Tonight is a tribute to the iconic glamour goddesses of the silver screen. I want to create a fantasy, rich in romance and adventure, and maybe a little scandalous. These fashions have been created to make women feel strong and sensual. Hollywood legends have been my inspiration.”

The legendary stars Greta Garbo, Mae West and Jean Harlow would have been very comfortable in Sue Wong’s Spring collection. But more contemporary celebrities arrived in her designs.

In an outfit that flashed back to the Roaring ’20s, The Girls Next Door’s lovely Bridget Marquardt gushed about the flapper dress she wore. “It’s very comfortable as well as amazing.” Also Brooke Burns of Baywatch fame, Melinda McGraw from Mad Men, and Charlotte Ross of NYPD Blue fame and more recently seen on Glee, were among others who were dressed to impress.

Others on hand were Alexandra Ella, Carolyn Hennessy, Harvey Guillen, and Tinsel Korey (Twilight).

Young Bella Thorne (from Disney’s Shake It Up show) also wore a flapper dress that she loved. Also short and sweet was Madison Leisle (The City of Lights, Ghost Whisper) embracing the Roaring ’20s era with her outfit. Noted stylist Mary Lou Krewson called it “old world charm with old school glam. And the classics never go out of style.”

A classic beauty, the raven hair Hannah Montana darling Romi Dames looked like a young Vivian Leigh in her dazzling beaded cocktail dress. “Sue Wong’s designs are amazingly romantic, and very feminine,” she praised. Romi’s friend, Kaycee Stroh agreed that they are extraordinary ensembles, and reported that she wore a Sue Wong design to the High School Musical movie premiere.

Kate Linder, from The Young and the Restless, said that Wong’s designs have a wonderful nostalgic look to them, and they are the dresses that are ideal for the extra special occasions in your life.

Opulent designs with beads, feathers, lace, and embroidery made Sue Wong’s Spring 2011 collection an old fashion Hollywood hit.
