Fashion & Gossip Backstage at Teen Choice

As the celebrities arrived for Fox TV’s 2010 Teen Choice Awards, it was like attending fashion week in Hollywood, because everyone was there dressed to impress.

Long lovely legs were the fashion accessories for most of the girls who choose mini-dresses showing off their well-tanned (natural and spray-on) gams. Of course six-inch heels helped most get that trendy leggy look.

The frocks were fabulous, mostly girly-girl styles in white or bright colors.

Red hot in white, Selena Gomez was in a simple BCBG design, while Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev had a glitzy white mini accented with a wave pattern of blue beadwork. And Chuck’s Yvonne Strahovski was “working it” backstage in white with a body hugging mini.

But “Best Dressed” should go to Leighton Meester, in her white embroidered lace-like Emilio Picci dress, and sassy Louboutin heels. The fashion maven from Gossip Girl won the Choice TV Actress Award for Drama, of course. Yet backstage she assured that there’s no nasty drama going on behind the scenes on her popular CW network show.

“We all have amazing chemistry and we’re like a family now. So it’s all good,” she says.

Also a fine singer, Leighton is keeping busy off the set writing songs and “doing some acoustic stuff” that will be included in her next CD.

Kim Kardashian looked out of place in her classic little black dress with one blinged-out sleeve. It was too sophisticated for the Teen Choice event.

But the “Fashion Disaster” prize should go to Megan Fox for her crazy combination of a blue print top with what looked like an aluminum foil skirt. How can anyone so beautiful want to look so bad?

Fun-loving Katy Perry enjoyed playing dress-up throughout the show at the Universal Hollywood’s Gibson Amphitheatre. She did her hosting duties with the great guys from Glee: Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Mark Salling and hunky Cory Monteith.

Backstage Katy was a quick-change artist with an entourage of hair and makeup experts who helped her reinvented herself throughout the broadcast. She becoming everything from a prom queen to a goth girl, but somehow she remained a hottie. But Megan Fox and Taylor Lautner actually got the Choice Hottie trophies.

Who looked the hunkiest? Soccer great David Beckham. Who was the sweetest? The Blind Side’s Quinton Aaron. Who was the hottest couple?

Who were the biggest winners? Anyone with fangs, because the Teen Choice Awards 2010 had The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and The Twilight Sage: New Moon leading the pack with a combined total of 17 nominations. So naturally the popular vampire chronicles were the overwhelming winners, taking home about a dozen awards. Plus Eclipse was chosen the favorite summer movie.

Fans also picked The Vampire Diaries as TV’s Breakout Show, and gave awards to its cast members with Breakout TV Star honors going to Paul Wesley and Nina Dobrev, and Choice Villain to Ian Somerhalder.

Other top choices with multiple wins were TV shows Glee, Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, and American Idol. Country music darling Taylor Swift, and the pop singer Justin Bieber weren’t on hand to pick up their surfboard trophies, but did pre-taped segments that delighted their fans.

American Idol runner-up David Archuleta, 19, was backstage explaining how new judges could give Idol a “facelift.” Archuleta was amused when he was asked if he’d like the job. “To be honest, I think I’m too soft to be a judge. Maybe Elton John or Madonna or people like that. They are experienced, and people would really listen to what they would say.”

Moroccanoil was the sponsor of the Backstage Creations Celebrity Retreat for Teen Choice 2010, which was a fun place to hang out for the celebrities. The stars loved getting the Moroccanoil luxury hair care products.

Among the other gift bag goodies were the latest in Adidas Mega footwear, Flirt! Cosmetics, the ultra-trendy Zoptopz crimped and curled caps, Hello Kitty by Sanrio, Palm Pixi Plus, Vivitar cameras, and Texas Instruments’ educational tools for the back-to-school crowd. The Xcite Fashion Collection featured special event gowns that dazzled all the fashionistas backstage at the dress-to-impress show.
