The usually elusive Harrison Ford aka Indiana Jones, was on hand at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, to present the Wallis Annenberg Public Service Award to his friend, Randy Sherman, M.D. Randy has been a volunteer surgeon with Operation Smile for 25 years, and served as the organization’s Chief Medical Officer since 2007.
Operation Smile provides free surgery for children worldwide suffering from facial deformities, to heal their smiles, and transform their lives.

Also honored was gorgeous actress Kate Walsh, who received her Award from her friend, Corinne Kingsburyof The Newsroom. Walsh is widely known for her starring role as Dr. Addison Montgomery on Private Practice (a spin-off based on her character on Grey’s Anatomy, so I guess she does have some experience in the medical field.
And I assure you; she does have a great SMILE!
A highlight of the evening included an announcement by Co-Founders of the organization, Dr. Bill and Kathy Magee that The Sharon D. Lund Foundation made a $2.5 million impact grant. Others lauded include Kevin Beggs, Chairman of Lionsgate Television Group, whose brother was born with a cleft lip. He saw first hand, how corrective surgery helped him to eat. Speaking of this deformity, did you know that handsome actor Stacey Keach was also born with a cleft palate? Keach gave a poignant speech about his childhood, and overcoming obstacles to accomplish his dreams.

Smile Ambassador, Brooke-Burke-Charvet (Dancing With the Stars served as Mistress of Ceremonies; and singers Sasha Allenand Neriah Fisher performed. In the star-studded audience spotted David Charvet, and other supporters including Roma Downey, and Reality King, Mark Burnett.
We were pleased to attend the Opening Night of the L.A. Opera, and to view an exciting performance of Bizet’s Classic, Carmen. As Placido Domingo, Director stated, “I cannot think of a better way to open our new season that with a masterpiece that encapsulates everything that audiences love about opera. Sumptuous melodies, impassioned drama, and captivating visual spectacle on a grand scale.”

Irish Mezzo Soprano Patricia Bardon portrayed the torrid temptress with style and mucho sex appeal; while handsome Brandon Jovanovich from Billings, Montana, was a brave but brooding Don Jose. But the singer who received the most applause was Pretty Yende, from South Africa, whose outstanding performance as Micaela, had the audience standing up and cheering for 10 minutes
Kudos to Milan Panic, who underwrote the opera; and Alfred and Claude Mann who presented the Company with an extraordinary $5 million dollar gift to honor the artistry and leadership of Placido Domingo. Nobody does it better.
