Grammy nominated musical composer & director Stormy Sachs deserves a rousing applause for producing a star-studded fundraiser, “Hooray for Hollywood..High” at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. Legendary star Carol Burnett, alumni of the school, was honored, and some of the many celebs in attendance included Jane Lynch, (Glee) who presented the award to Carol; Ed Lauter, (The Artist), Deborah Shelton (Body Double), Charlene Tilton (Dallas), Dee Wallace, and her daughter, actress Gabrielle Stone, Shirley Jones & Marty Ingels, and Sally Kellerman, whose singing career is going full force.
But the real stars of the evening were the young students who performed scenes from A Chorus Line, Chicago, and Rent with such professionalism we thought we were transported to Broadway. Happy to see that exceptional talent, love, and appreciation for musical theatre is alive & well in our town!
At another event, the red carpet at Sofitel in Beverly Hillswas on fire, culminating with Genlux cover girl and Tony/Emmy Award winning singer/actress Kristin Chenoweth’s arrival. Celeb friends, actors, & designers who stopped by to support her Winter issue spread in this top fashion magazine included Kathy Griffin, Ashley Tisdale, Nashville hunk Tilkey Jones, Designer Sue Wong to name a few.
The magazine article included Kristin’s insight into her on-set accident and recovery. Last July the diminutive actress was smacked on the head by heavy lighting equipment on the set of The Good Wife, and suffered a skull fracture. She cracked some teeth injured her jaw, and now has back, rib and hip issues.
Her speech was affected, and her nose broken, but the feisty star is delighted to back on the scene, and announced she will be appearing on Live From Lincoln Center on Feb. 15th. Don’t mess with this 91-pound package of energy!
Another debut that night was Sofitels new Bar, Riviera31, off the expansive lobby. More than 400 attractive guests sipped on the skinny 31 cocktails from their new De-Light menu (only 95 calories), and delicious hors d’oeuvres prepared by Executive Chef Marius Blin.
We noticed comedian Kathy Griffin and Kristin measuring each other’s waists — and neither one of them gained an inch after this fabulous, but non-fattening event!
