Viola Davis – Woman of Style

To date, actress Viola Davis (The Help) has received a Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globe Award nomination in the category of leading actress; and it is likely she will be going head to head with Meryl Streep for the Oscar.  However, she received another award recently, when she was named, “Woman of Style” at the 20th Anniversary of Divine Design.

We were pleased to attend the Opening Night Gala that benefited Project Angel Food.  This organization is dedicated to delivering nutritious meals to people with threatening illness, and this year, they have delivered more than 735,000 meals!  America’s Top Model runway coach, J. Alexander welcomed the SRO crowd to the Beverly Hilton, looking like a fashion plate himself.  His trendy black & white outfit featured a stand-up collar (to flatter his fab face, of course,) and a huge red AIDS ribbon pinned to his chest.

Others honored at the event included world-renown Chef Thomas Keller (French Laundry; and Costume Designer, Patricia Field (Sex and the City, The Devil Wears Prada) wearing sunglasses and a sequined jacket which set off her blazing red curls. Fields received the Iconic Fashion Visionary, and rightly so. The Emmy Award winning designer is credited with turning brands such as Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin into household names.

Kristin Chenowerth entertained the troops in her own inimitable style. The adorable blonde actress/singer announced that she would be starring in a new flick Outrun, written by her fiancé Dax Shepard, who will also co-star and direct.  This action comedy, which will hit theatres on August 24th features Bradley Cooper and another Kristen — Kristen Bell.

Before heading over to the fashion extravaganza featuring an assortment of luxury fashion & beauty items — all sold at a discount from 50-90% off, we dined on stuffed chicken breast, along with such celebs as the Cast from Mad Men, Pauley Perrette (NCIS) and Regina King (24).  Then off to the six day charity shopping market place at the former home of Robinsons/May, to purchase some holiday gifts and help Project Angel Food.  A most exciting experience indeed!
