Camp Rock 2 on the Disney Channel
Demi Lavato Talks About The Jonas Brothers & Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam
Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam is an exhilarating rock’n’roll musical starring Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers. It’s premiering over the Labor Day weekend on The Disney Channel, and is a tour de force for singer-actress Lovato, and a showcase for the music and charm of the pop-rock brothers Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas.

Chatting with Lovato and the Jonas brothers was a joy. They were getting ready to take off on their summer concert tour together, and they excitedly talked about traveling to more than 45 cities to perform for their fans. But before the tour began, Demi was heading to South America to promote her Sonny With A Chance Disney Channel original series.
At just 17, Lovato has a skyrocketing career with acting, recording and concerts. “I’m really excited to be able to do this much. If you told me three years ago that I’d be doing all of this I would have said ‘No way.’ I’ve been working towards this goal for awhile,” she told me.
She started at age seven on the kid’s show Barney & Friends. In May she guest-starred on Grey’s Anatomy. “It was an incredible opportunity to be on my favorite show in my dream role playing a schizophrenic. I loved it.”
She also helped out on an episode of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition earlier this year.
The first Camp Rock was such a success that the Disney Channel had to reunite Lovato and her good friends the Jonas brothers for the sequel.
“The first was great but with this second, we all really stepped up our game. There’s a ton of music and dance numbers,” she says.
There’s also a great duet, “Wouldn’t Change A Thing,” with Joe Jonas, her boyfriend. She loved being able to show her emotions with that tune.
She reports the song “definitely had more feeling. Being friends with someone for years, it’s easier to play those emotions. We’ve had our ups and downs. So it wasn’t hard to be able to relate to the song. But at the same time, it was a blast.”
Camp Rock 2 was filmed last fall in Canada, and Lovato says that posed a unique problem. “At the camp it’s supposed to be summertime, and I did a few scenes when it was lightly snowing. Audiences won’t be able to detect it, but I was freezing cold in a silk mini-dress. I was so miserable. But after that day, I figured I can do anything now.”
Where does Lovato want to go from here? She says, “Hopefully in ten years I will have proven myself as a musician, songwriter, singer, actress, director, producer, and scriptwriter. I want to do everything.”
Camp Rock 2 is a story about two rival music camps, and in it the young cast celebrates song and dance, plus summer romance.
The youngest Jonas brother, Frankie makes his TV movie debut in it. Plus there’s a camp full of talented supporting performers, including Meaghan Martin (10 Things I Hate About You), Alyson Stoner (Phineas and Ferb, Step Up 3D), Anna Maria Perez de Tagle (Fame), Jasmine Richard, Daniel Fathers, Roshon Fegan, Daniel Kash, and Maria Canals-Barrera (the coolest mom on Wizards of Waverly Place). And two exciting new performers are introduced, Matthew “Mdot” Finley and Chloe Bridges.
The sequel to the top-rated Camp Rock is packed with more than a dozen exciting musical numbers. It is choreographed by Rosero McCoy, and produced by Alan Sacks, Kevin Lafferty, and Paul Hoen who also directed. The DVD will get a quick release Sept. 7, featuring exclusive new music numbers, and the soundtrack is already out and is heard on Radio Disney.
