Family Fun at 18th annual Halloween Carnival to Help McDonald Kids

It wasn’t scary or gruesome like the night time Halloween Horror Nights at Universal. Instead it was just a howling good time for families on the Universal Studios backlot. That was the site for Camp Ronald McDonald For Good Times’ 18th annual Halloween Carnival presented by Jakks Cares.

Lots of celebrities in costumes were there for the fundraising event that provided a good time for kids of all ages.

As he was strolling along the Trick-or-Treat lane, Gilles Marini was saying, “Look at the faces of the children. Look at all the smiles.” Gilles, the hunky leading man from TV’s Brothers & Sisters, the Sex and the City movie, and Dancing with the Stars, was with his wife Carole and kids. He happily posed for pictures with everyone.

So did ER’s Mehki Phifer, who was enjoying the day with his family. No Ordinary Family’s Michael Chiklis was one of the first to arrive with his daughter.

The Biggest Loser host Alison Sweeney with her son Ben (in a Transformers costume) and daughter Megan (as a butterfly). Cheryl Hines also enjoyed the event with her daughter Catherine.

Both gorgeous blonde moms have great shapely legs and I found out they like the Skechers Shape-Up sneakers, which had a booth which featured their new line of fitness footwear. No wonder they looked so good running after their kids.

Another super-celebrity-mom was Shar Jackson who brought her happy kids. Also Constance Marie and daughter Luna, Dan Cortese and daughter India, Marissa Jaret Winokur and son Zev (as a transformer), and Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush was there with his family darling daughters.

Bewitching a crowd of toddlers was Kaycee Stroh of the High School Musical movies. She was dressed as a “haute” witch as she sat in the storybook area reading a fun Halloween tale called “Frank Was A Monster Who Wanted to Dance.” The kids loved it and Kaycee got them all dancing after the story was finished.

Modern Family’s ultra-talented young scene-stealer Rico Rodriguez was dressed as a really cool pirate, and had his actress-sister Raini with him, who also helped out with storybook time.

Helping everyone have fun was American Idol’s Blake Lewis who performed a mini-concert on the Clear Channel Radio’s MY-fm stage. And Hannah Montana’s Emily Osment also sang some great tunes. Her song “Hero In Me” is a great song to check out.

Having a blast signing autographs and meeting their fans were Shake It Up’s cutie-pie Max Ehrich, Rachel Griffiths, Lisa Vidal, Chelsea Hobbs, Judy Greer, Robbie Amell, Italia Ricci, Hayley McFarland, Leven Rambin, Samantha Harris, Savannah Jayde, Sterling Beaumon, and Will Shadley.

In a big bird costume was Doug Brochu, and his Sonny With A Chance costar Tiffany Thornton, plus Nathan Kress, Madison Beaty, Nicole Anderson, Taylor Spreitler, and Vincent Martella from Phineas and Ferb, the terrific animated series about kids on an adventure to create a perfect day.

Many more young stars were there, and everyone enjoyed all the carnival activities, playing dress up with all the Jakks costumes (Jakks Cares is a great philanthropic organization), food, rides, and just doing what they could to support the kids from Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times. It’s a place where sick kids get to renew their spirits.

And the Halloween carnival event was a great place for stars, volunteers, counselors and strong-awesome kids to have fun.
