The Concern Foundation for Cancer Research raised over $1 million dollars at their 36th Annual Block Party at Paramount Studios, honoring Jim & Ishita Ganguly-Morrison, for their commitment toward finding a cure.  This year the theme was “Under the Big Top” and over 50 restaurants provided a taste of their specialties.  These included The Grill on the Alley, Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Jazz Grill, Factors Famous Deli, and Pinks, which drew a huge crowd of Hot Dog aficionados.

More than 3000 guests were offered massages and manicures from LeSpa at Sofitel Hotel (they were booked throughout the night), and posed prettily for digital photos sponsored by Hold the Date Events. Musical entertainment was provided by Tom Nolan band, and additional revenue was raised by a tremendous silent auction.

The prestigious Regency Club in Westwood was the place to be for the July 11th World Cup Finals.  The LA Consular Corps, L.A. Consular Press Organization, South African Consulate General and L.A. World Affairs Council hosted an affair, in conjunction with the Regency, and more than 230 international guests attended. Scully Cloete, General Manager of the upscale private club is a South African native, and a soccer supporter, served Spanish paella, and several South African specialties to the delighted crowd.

These included South African Political Consul, Etienne Van Straaten, and the Consul Generals from Morocco, Ecuador, Kenya, Argentina and Italy – to name a few.

Quite a departure from another event at the Regency where Kathy Griffin and Kitty Kelly were on hand for a book signing, and discussion of Kelly’s new book on Oprah Winfrey. The irrepressible Kathy interviewed Kelly about her book, which has taken the world by storm.  Oprah dismissed it as a “so called biography” which included hints at drug use and a liaison with John Tesh — and it was announced that there would be a film based on the tome.  Wonder who will portray Oprah?  Maybe the newly trim Jennifer Hudson — if she isn’t afraid to incur Oprah’s wrath by daring to do so.

And last, but not least ran into gorgeous Priscilla Presley at the Founders Room at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.  We were there to attend the Opening Night of Shen Yun. She is seen here with PR Wiz, Roger Neal, who really knows how to promote a spectacular show of this excitement and grandeur.
