The spanking new Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills was the perfect venue for the Tex-Mex fiesta benefiting Stand Up To Cancer. This gala was sponsored by the Farrah Fawcett Foundation, the beautiful actress who died from anal cancer. Her dream was to find a cure for this insidious disease. Farrah’s best friend, Alana Stewart, President & CEO of the FFF, produced the Emmy nominated documentary Farrah’s Story, which illustrates the battle she fought. After the special screening, Golden Globe nominated actress Jacklyn Smith received the Shining Star Angel Award. A cancer survivor herself, Jacklyn has launched a successful career as a designer (her collection is sold in Kmart; and she represents skin-care & wig line. Can’t keep this Angel down!
Also honored was Renata Helfman, noted makeup artist who received the Community Leadership Angel Award. She created Lipstick Angels, who provide beauty & makeup services to patients at Cedars-Sinai, as well as the Motion Picture Retirement Community, to name a few. In addition, Dr. Lawrence Piro, presented the Medical Visionary Award to Daniel O’Connor, CEO of Advaxis, a bio-tech company developing multiple cancer therapies.
Some of the celebs in attendance ,included Farrah’s long time love, Ryan O’Neal, Carol Bayer Sager, Melanie Griffith, Sherry Lansing, Tina Sinatra, and George Hamilton & his blended family who can be seen on the hit reality show, Stewarts & Hamiltons, on the E Channel. This kooky and krazy show features Alana Stewart, (former wife of Rocker Rob Stewart; her children Kimberley Stewart, Ashley Hamilton & Sean Stewart & her former husband (now best friend).
