An Odyssey in Glamour & Crown Jewels Fashions
When the John Wayne Cancer Institute Auxiliary held their annual Odyssey Ball, the theme was “Hollywood Iconic Glamour” which was the perfect title for this event. Actress, author, filmmaker & glamour gal, Alana Stewart (she was a top model you know); received the True Grit Award for her humanitarian work with the Farrah Fawcett Foundation for Cancer Research.
Alana, who was bff with Farrah, produced the documentary on her life, which was nominated for an Emmy award. Besides being the former wife of George Hamilton (with whom they had one son, Ashley), Alana was also Mrs. Rod Stewart & the mother of two children with the rock star.
But back to the iconic glamour gals: On hand to honor their friend, were Supermodel Cheryl Tiegs, actress Racquel Welch, Charlie’s Angels, Jacqueline Smith, and former Desperate Housewife, Nicolette Sheridan. A bevy of beauties indeed!
Also honored was philanthropist Ruth Weil, who received the coveted Duke award. She is dedicated to finding a cure for cancer, and has raised over $2 million dollars for the Institute.
KTLA’s Sam Rubin emceed the event, which featured singer, actress & dancer (Dancing with the Stars) Julianne Hough. The perky performer is starring in the upcoming feature film, Footloose.
Kudos to Hollace Brown, President, and her hard working committee, who helped raise more than $500,000 at this event to benefit the John Wayne Cancer Institute.
At another event at the Regency Club in Westwood, Dr. Dannne Montague King and his alter ego, Czarina Elizabeth (Liz) Loren Maria Romanov, presented an interesting & informative program for the Crown Jewels. Over 100 purple clad ladies were treated to a lecture about Age Management, and a fabulous fashion show by international designer Fedor
Among the models was lovely actress Thea Gill, best known for her work on the landmark Showtime series, Queer as Folk. She credits her fabulous complexion to Dr. King, who operates over 7,000 skin revision clinics world-wide.
Board members of the Crown Jewels (a Westside Social Club) include Gail Dauer, Marlene Ridgley, Grace Scherrer, Eleanor Moscatel, and Annie Lehrer — and it was an afternoon of fabulous food, fun, fashion & frolic. Who could ask for anything more?
