We were invited to join a gaggle of celebrated TV Moms, including Florence Henderson (Brady Bunch); Ilene Graff (Mr. Belvedere) and Kim Rhoades (Suite Life of Zach & Cody) for a Mother’s Day celebration at the Hollywood Museum.  Designer Randy McLaughlin and his late partner Jerry Skeels created the world famous Hollywood Graffiti Gown, featuring over 350 hand beaded signatures of leading ladies, including Elisabeth Taylor, Doris Day, Halle Berry and even Mother Teresa.

This legendary gown is now being displayed at the Hollywood Museum, and will be auctioned off with proceeds to be split between the key AIDS organizations.  Randy was on hand to welcome such celebs as Stefanie Powers, JoAnne Worley, Alison Arngrim (Little House on the Prairie) and Donna Mills (Knotts Landing) who was one of the ladies lean enough to actually wear the fabulous creation.

Let’s hope that when the Graffiti Gown is auctioned off, it will fetch a pretty price to help fight this dread disease.

And while speaking of famous Moms, the aforementioned Florence Henderson was on hand at the Professional Dancers Society, where Carl Reiner was presented with the Gypsy Award. Reiner is truly a Renaissance Man – Known as an Actor, Film Director, Producer, Writer and Comedian.

He can now add Dancer to his never ending credits.

The purpose of this Dancers Society is to provide relief to assist Dancers in their time of need. Their goal is to establish a retirement residence where they may live in comfort & dignity.  Humanitarian Joni Berry, who was celebrating her First Wedding Anniversary that day, acted as Hostess for the star-studded event, and Betty White (who is now the “It Girl of Hollywood”) took over for Mitzi Gaynor, who is currently starring at Feinstein’s in New York City.

Other celebs on hand to honor Reiner, included Dick Van Dyke (who said he owes his entire career to him); Carol Lawrence (West Side story), comedian Norm Crosby, and gorgeous, Stefanie Powers who we seem to see at every event in town.  We red heads know how to have a good time on the Hollywood Beat!
