Fairyland Wedding & Glamorous Authors & Eddie Awards

The chic L’Ermitage Hotel in Beverly Hillswas the perfect setting for the glamorous wedding reception for gorgeous jewelry designer, Caldwell Sutherland and Robert C Bogert, famed inventor, who is credited with creating the air sole for Nike.  A massive clear tent was set up on the roof, with Crystal chandeliers from the Emmy Awards; and Lucite jeweled butterflies fluttered across the ceiling and in the floral arrangements.  Jacque Heeber, the event coordinator, selected butterflies because they signify a new beginning –and so it was for this delightful couple.

Among the celebrated guests was Miss California, Noelle Freeman, who got many of the Miss America candidates hooked on Caldwell’s jewelry; as well as stunning jockey, Chantel Sutherland, who posed with some fabulous baubles aboard one of her award winning nags.

Barnes & Noble at the Grove is the perfect venue for a gaggle of gorgeous authors, including Jackie Collins, Valerie Harper (Rhoda) and Brandi Glanville (Beverly Hills Housewives) whose new book Drinking and Tweeting and Other Brandi Blunders has climbed to the top of the New York Times bestseller list.  And now the original Beverly Hills Housewife, Grace Robbins, who was the spouse of Harold Robbins, has come out with her own tell-all tome, Cinderella and the Carpetbagger: My Life as the Wife of the  “World’s Best-Selling Author” Harold Robbins.  Harold penned 25 best sellers, and most of his works were made into movies.  After reading an advance copy of Grace’s steamy story, we can’t wait until this tale of life in the fast lane becomes a feature flick.

You can have the opportunity to meet & greet glamorous Grace on April 11th at 7:00 PM at Barnes & Noble at the Grove.  Robin Leach (Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous) will be on hand to join in on the festivities.

And last, but not least, had the privilege of attending the Eddie Awards, where Steven Spielberg, the world’s best-known director, received the Golden Eddie.  Spielberg credits his editing knowledge to working with the best editors in the business, and particularly, Michael Kahn who he has worked with for 35 years.  “He is the brother I never had, and I continue to learn from Michael all the time.”

Argo, The Silver Linings Playbook and Brave won big at the 63rd annual Eddie Awards recognizing outstanding editing.  Breaking Bad, Nurse Jackie and The Newsroom, were the top television winners; and Searching for Sugarman won the Documentary prize.  As is the tradition, editors teamed up with actors and filmmakers to help present the awards.  We particularly enjoyed meeting actor, John Voight who related some amusing anecdotes about editing the film Anaconda, which he co-starred with Jennifer Lopez.

He still can’t go over the fact that he was swallowed alive by the monstrous snake, and came out as a blurry mess. This campy film may not be a classic like Midnight Cowboy (where he made his film debut);  but it sure was fun — even for the actors.
